First, let me just say that I’m not really sure why I've been covering so many creative posts lately, but the truth is, this is the stuff that really gets me excited! Since I was a kid, it was games such as Lode Runner for the NES, which featured a built in level editor, which began my love for creativity in video games. If only all games could provide you with some sort of customization, the world would be a better place. Spore is one such game. What is Spore? Spore is a computer game being developed by the same people who brought you The Sims and Sim City. The idea is to create a creature in its simplest cell form, then evolve it all the way up through macroevolution, tribal life, civilization, space exploration, etc. Or simply put, you start from the floor and customize your way up. It's a lot like The Sims and Sim City except, it’s both of those games combined and then some. Check out the video below for a trailer of the game.
Just like Little Big Planet, you'll be able to create content and share it with other players. However, unlike Little Big Planet, Spore is solely a single player experience. For example, even though you'll be able to play on a planet created by someone else, you won't be able to simultaneously interact with the creator of that planet. The idea is that, the galaxy you’re playing in is very much yours, unique, and changes based on how you play.
Look for Spore when it’s released this September for both Mac and PC. Ironically, Little Big Planet will also be released during that same month. It's going to be one heck of a September!
In case you missed my previous creative posts, here's the run down:
