No Deal

Who here watches Deal Or No Deal? I've seen a whopping total of half an episode! Oh and what an episode that was! I have a question for those of you do watch this show semi regularly. Is it always so RIDICULOUS? For example....

I have no words...

My Magical Television Or Why I'm Surrounded By Perverts

I own a really nice TV. (Not at all to brag) It's so nice in fact, that the built in tuners allow me to pick up an outrageous amount of channels. I remember when the cable guy installed my cable; both of us would sit at my TV as it scanned the available channels. "Wow! That is….a LOT.. of channels.” the cable guy would say, as we watched the numbers continue to roll from 40 channels available to 100, to 200 and so forth.

We sat and sat; eventually he just gave up and left because my TV was still continuing to pick up new channels."You're probably not supposed to get that many channels.” he said as he got up to leave. And that was it! He acknowledged that I was picking up around 200 channels more than I was supposed to, but was too lazy to do anything about it.

So what does someone do with 300 channels you ask? (Without a box mind you) Normally when you flip through the channels it goes something like this, "1, 2, 3, 4” and so on. On my TV, it goes something like this,"1,2,3,3.5,3.6,3.7,4,5,5.1” and so on. Apparently you can pick up decimal point channels. Who knew!?!

But here's where things get interesting! Most of those channels are duplicates of other channels, except in a different time zone. However, I've got a good 20 channels or so that display whatever everyone else in the neighborhood is watching! For example, if someone in my neighborhood is watching the Disney Channel, MTV or Starz, that very same channel appears on my TV! Not to mention that it's all in real-time too. So if someone presses pause or rewinds, my TV will also pause or rewind.

Every once in a while I'll check out those channels to see what people are watching. Sometimes I'll catch a new release movie or even a movie in HD, and other times I catch people skimming through movies. It's always fascinating to see which part of a movie people will fast forward through, refusing to only watch their favorite moments. Although honestly, half the time the fast forwarding is only to get to the next sex scene....and then looped.

Why The Lost Video Game Is Terrible

*Editors Note* This review is bias and represents my unedited feelings toward Ubisoft.

Yesterday the official Lost video game went on sale for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and many Losties like myself rejoiced. I’m a big Lost fan and I’ve been looking forward to this game for awhile now. So after a long wait, how did the game turn out? Not well.

I had heard some rumblings about this game a week before its release, about how bad it was going to be. I disregarded these statements about the game being bad and instead insisted on fulfilling my needs as a Lost fan. I mean, how bad can it be? I’ve seen the previews, it’s endorsed by Damon Lindeloft and Carlton Cuse, and surely they wouldn’t let me down! When asked in a recent interview how the progression of the game was going Damon replied “ridiculously awesome”…. Well Damon, I’ve played the game and it ridiculously sucks!

It really takes quite the effort to turn one of televisions most popular and best TV series into one of the worst video games of the past 5 years. Oh and Ubisoft, what is wrong with you? For that matter, what’s wrong with a lot of third party game studies!?! Is it really that hard to make a decent video game??? I watched the credits for this video game Ubisoft, and it was possibly the longest credits I have ever sat through in the history of video games. I haven’t timed them, but I would say 15 minutes easily. How’s it that you can is spends many thousands of dollars employing an endless list of people and yet still produce pure and utter crap on a daily basis?

So what makes this game so bad? The gameplay is terrible. Everything from the fact the character walks very slow to how your character is constantly being snagged by what’s around him. “Oh crap! A rock on the ground! Guess I’m going to have to stop and turn my body to walk around it.” Combat is absolutely horrendous and makes Ubisoft seem like they’ve never played a video game before. The graphics are grotesque with ugly environments and character models, not to mention the interlacing screen tearing issue. Voice acting is…you guessed it, terrible! Someone should remind Ubisoft that this game is based after a TV show played by actors. Environments are very linear, small, and poorly designed…

The list goes on and on. You could easily go into much more detail on the flaws of this game, but by this point I think you get the point. If that isn’t enough of a reason for you to not buy this game, then I don’t know what it is. It’s not worth any of your money! Don’t even pay to rent it! Instead, borrow the game from some poor soul like me. Even then, resist the urge to bend the game in half and flush it down the toilet.

To wrap up this long rant about how bad this game is, you should know that if you are a rabid obsessive fan, and I do mean rabid, you and only you should buy this game….. And to all of you game studies out there putting out pure and utter crap on a monthly basis, your just proof that quantity over quality is a priority in this industry and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Dear EA
Please buy Ubisoft and then go out of the business.

Kind regards,
-Tim

Youtube and Website Of The Week

My youtube channel has recently reached a huge milestone. Not only have I surpassed the 100 subscriber mark on my channel but I've recently been informed that some very important people have been watching my channel and they like it. I'm both very flattered and excited.

I haven't been making videos very long, in fact its all very new to me. The channel was started in August of last year and before that point in time the amount of videos I had made in my life was close to maybe four. So I'd like to think that this is really just a starting point for me in terms of film making and thank you to everyone for watching my videos! (even the bad ones)

Comic-con bridged the gap for me to get my first youtube channel, which led me to this blog, which led me to my Journalism major and will eventually lead me to a career. "It's destiny! "It was meant to be!" "You are the chosen one Neo" or maybe like the TV show Lost. I feel like Locke on the island.

....on a completely unrelated note, I didn't want this whole post to be about how great my life is blah blah blah, so here is the website of the week! LINK

Click on the link and experience television in Japan, except from your PC. No need to know Japanese, most of the clips are English subtitled.
