The Movies of 2008, Reviewed In Two Sentences

Are you on the fence about watching a particular movie, but too lazy to read a full review? Well then you’re in luck! This is my comprehensive list of every single movie released in 2008 that I've seen, and reviewed in two sentences or less!

*Note* All of the below reviews, represent my honest opinion on the movie and not a fictitious opinion. AKA, I only reviewed movies that I’ve actually seen. Also, all movies must have had a 2008 theatrical release to be on this list.

Indiana Jones 4 - Better than Temple of Doom, not better than 1 and 3. 7/10
Speed Racer - Embarrassingly terrible. Stay far away! 2/10
Zohan - Childish and stupid. Funny moments but overall bad. 5/10
Iron Man - One of the best superhero movies ever made! Funny! 9/10
Kung Fu Panda - One of DreamWorks best! Weak plot and funny moments. 8/10
Forgetting Sarah Marshall - A few funny moments, but mostly disturbing… 5/10
My Blueberry Nights - Slow paced and not for everyone. Portman disappoints. 4/10
Superhero Movie - Nothing special, just another spoof movie. 3/10
Run Fatboy Run - Not as good as Shaun and others. Charming British humor. 7/10
21 - Average Hollywood flick. Funny moments with a predictable storyline. 7/10
Drillbit Taylor –Face palm. Stay far away! 2/10
Horton Hears A Who - Charming and family friendly. Funny WTF moments. 8/10
10,000 B.C. - Average Hollywood flick. Shallow story, so so action, bad acting. 5/10
Semi-Pro - Moderately funny. Terribly written, plenty of unintelligent humor. 4/10
The Other Boleyn Girl - Great cast, boring movie. 5/10
Charlie Bartlett - Very funny film! Well written, great acting, original! 9/10
Step Up 2 The Streets - Great choreography, decent movie. Weak plot. 4/10
Spiderwick Chronicles - Best Nickelodeon in years. Bad acting, family friendly. 7/10
Jumper - Average Hollywood flick. Great cast, plot holes, and some humor. 7/10
Fool's Gold - Pleases the adolescent teens! Weak story, average flick. 7/10
Strange Wilderness - STAY AWAY. 0/10
Over Her Dead Body - Cute, charming, but fails to be a decent chick flick. 5/10
Rambo - Average Hollywood flick. If you’re a Rambo fan, you'll probably like it. 7/10
Meet The Spartans - Typical spoof movie. Nothing new, stay away! 2/10
Mad Money - Chick flick gone bad. Bad acting and story. 2/10
Cloverfield - Good for only one watch. Might cause dizziness. 7/10

Discovering Indiana Jones

A month ago, I saw the new Indiana Jones trailer, and from that point on, my fandom for Indy escalated. Admittedly and embarrassingly, I had never watched all three Indy films until this week. *cue a crowd of people gasping in disbelief* I know, I’m un-American and a terrible horrible person!

Before you go all torches and pitchforks on me, let me explain. When the first two movies came out, I wasn’t even born yet and when the third movie came out, I was only 2 years old. I know that still doesn’t excuse the fact that I’m 20 years old and just now discovering Indy, but really the Indy films are not from my generation. You can’t hold a guy accountable for something that was created before his time! *points finger at mathematics*

Like I said, I watched all three films for the first time this week. Previously I had only seen bits and pieces of the series. Simply put, I love all three films! Temple of Doom was a little iffy, but the first and last are amazing!

Once I had familiarized myself, I decided that I had a major amount of catching up to do. I spent a couple of hours “researching” Indy and its history. With that being said, I can comfortably say that I’m now up to speed. I only regret not falling in love with Indy sooner, including the many great games that the franchise has inspired.

Please leave your hate comments below.

The Big Dog Is Stunning!

I'm not really one to post videos about robots (nerdy much? HAH!), but I really couldn't resist this time. The above video showcases a super advanced robot (Big Dog), which is able to carry a maximum of 350 pounds and walk on many different terrains including ice. It's really quite impressive!

Give this video a chance! Even if robotics sound boring to you, I think this video might surprise you with what modern technology can accomplish! FYI, the most impressive stuff happens about mid-video. Also, you might want to turn the volume down, as the buzzing sounds get annoying.

Kyle XY Discussions: "I've Had The Time Of My Life"

KYLE XY - "I've Had The Time of My Life" - Prom is finally here and everyone is scrambling to make the night as perfect as possible, on "Kyle XY," airing on MONDAY, MARCH 17 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on ABC Family.

This will be the last Kyle XY discussion post. The idea was a complete flop and I don't expect to continue this in the future. It's really hard to keep people interested with so few resources and so few readers....That and my busy schedule didn't always leave me available to watch the latest episode in a timely manner.

You know the drill. If you want to discuss the episode, leave your thoughts here.

I hope these will do.

A Very Short Week

Movies Movies Movies

Naturally, no week off from school would be complete without movies. During my week off, I watched 10,000 B.C., Horton Hears a Who, Death At A Funeral, August Rush, Martian Child and Jurassic Park. I feel almost dirty admitting to that absurd list of movies. But that's how I roll...

Whats the verdict on each of those movies?
-10,000 B.C. --- SO SO. Not amazing, not bad. If this looks like your type o
f movie, watch it.
-Horton Hears A Who --- AMAZING! Surprisingly really good! Best movie in recent years rated G!
-Death At A Funeral --- Pretty good. Not for everyone, but still funny to those with an immoral sense of humor...like me.
-August Rush --- Pretty good. Not for everyone. The soundtrack is very good and the overall story is compelling.

-Martian Child --- Pretty good. Not for everyone (chick flick). Worth at least one watch.
-Jurassic Park --- CLASSIC. Tremors in the glass of water. Enough said.

GAMES GAMES GAMES... or why I'm the downfall of society.

With the recent release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it was inev
itable for me to give the game a good long try. I gave it a try, and I'm loving it!

It's not for everyone and its got a learning curve My 10 hour play session the first day I got it, can attest to that. But overall, everyone needs to play it at least once.

The other game I've been playing a lot of is, Rock Band. I played this at a friend's dorm a couple weeks back and I've had it in the back of my mind ever since. So I bought it, and I'm loving it!

Speaking as someone who doesn't play an instrument,
Rock Band is surprisingly fresh and keeps you motivated to do better and better, even if your rhythmically challenged! And unlike Guitar Hero, I really feel like this game gives you the true feeling of playing an instrument and performing in a band, at least as much as a video game can....I'm in love with this game! I just wish there were more songs to my taste.

BINGO BINGO BINGO

Okay, just take a good look at this picture. Looked at it? Notice anything unusual? Like for example, the complete lack of "BINGO"?

I was on campus and stopped to play Bingo with about 50 other people. The prizes weren't much, but played anyway just for the fun factor. After going all the
way until someone in the group got blackout, the picture to the left was my end result. ABSOLUTE CRAP! That bingo board is ALMOST physically, the worst bingo board you can get. PERIOD.

I may not have won, but at least I
had an incredibly terrible bingo board, and really...if your not going to win, this is the way to go. HUMILITY!

Climbing Climbing Climbing

The awesomeness of rock climbing is something that has long alluded me, until now. I've got to say, I really enjoyed doing something different and enjoyed having fu
n while working out.

I'm not bad but I'm not great either. I'm told that rock climbing has more to do with technique, rather than physical strength, both of which I need more of.

I'll probably be doing more of this. Who knows, I might even start doing this regularly, I enjoyed it that much.

Birds Birds Birds

A little know fact around this blog is that, my dad is quite the avid bird watcher. To the point where I would consider him obsessed, and amazing on the subject.

I know what your thinking "bird...watching? " That's a hobby for old people!"... Did you know the creator of James Bond was an avid bird watcher?

It's really quite impressive when you've got an expert walking you through some very scenic routes, looking at the most awe inspiring birds. Its a sight you don't see everyday and for some, its a sight you might never see.

I'm writing a story about this particular birding trip, for my photo journalism class. And believe it or not, I actually took the picture below. You see my dad, being not only a birding enthusiast, loves photography. He was kind enough to let me use his camera. The camera I used turned everything into gold, and likewise, costs the same. It's a good thing I didn't drop it.

Kyle XY Discussions: "Grey Matters"

KYLE XY - Grey Matters - Kyle and Josh get embroiled in a cheating scandal at the school while Jessi continues to push herself, on "Kyle XY," airing on MONDAY, MARCH 3 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on ABC Family.

Hit the link below for my thoughts on the episode

After watching this episode, I've decided that I would like Jessi to be a supervillian. I mean its perfect! All Taylor has to has to do is keeping training her to be a super soldier and she could theoretically be the Lex Luthor of Kyle XY. That is.....if they don't kill her first.

With the sudden revival of Andy, I'm guessing that Jessi is going to die. Most tv shows have characters that die and Kyle XY has yet to see that happen. Especially, considering how controversial this show is, to the point that the writers are just trying to add a controversy like masturbation to every episode. I can completely see them playing the "death card".

-The cheating accusation was a little unbeleivable and I felt like this storyline was a little weak.
-Again they play up Lori writing her song for the prom. Should be good, congrats to April!
-This wasn't a particularly memorable episode. It was just so so. The most important part of the episode was developing the Nicoles relationship Josh and Kyle.

KYLE XY - "Primary Colors" - Kyle starts to experience brain hiccups when he is pulled in too many directions, on "Kyle XY," airing on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on ABC Family.

-Wish they would have spent more time dealing with Andy's cancer remission. The show just kind of tossed that in and spent little time with it. Which is both good and bad. The good is that the episode can flow better and the bad is that they are over looking a potentially good storyline.
-Josh is funny as usual. "but he's the king of stupid town!"
-Jessi further solidifies her need to be a jerk
-Can you say love triangle? April, Declan, and that new DJ guy, whose name alludes me right now.
-And lastly, the introduction of Sarah is not that great of a twist. It's not all that shocking and not all that interesting, but I'm willing to give the show the benefit of the doubt.

Kyle XY Discussions: "First Cut Is The Deepest"

KYLE XY - "First Cut Is The Deepest" - Kyle takes Jessi on a trip to learn more about Sarah to make amends, but he soon realizes that the damage may already be done, on "Kyle XY," airing on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 18 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on ABC Family.

Hit the link for my thoughts on the episode...

I really really enjoyed this episode. I thought the overall story was well put together. Great acting, humor, and Andie was amazing! She is slowly becoming my favorite character on the show. I demand more Andie!!!

-Sarah really must have been insane, who wrights on the ceiling??? And with good hand writing too. Wouldn't your hands start to cramp up.
-The Kyle Andie hug was amazing! Possibly the best moment of this season so far.
-Jessi is a complete jerk...
-Adam Baylin sleeps in a warehouse??? Just like Foss??? Personal Hygiene???
-A nerdy DJ???
-Foreshadowing the death of Jessi???
-I've noticed that this show makes a lot of references to past episodes. It's like "hey remember that thing you did a couple of episodes ago?" That's not necessarily a bad thing, I just thought it was worth pointing out since this show seems to do that a little more than other shows.
-Declan randomly punching that guy was hilarious!
-And finally, once again this episode proves how clueless Amanda can be. Is she not smart enough to put two and two together. Jessi in a bar.....then you have Kyle in a bar......all at the same time. Nope, nothing to be suspiciously paranoid about!
